Vanetta Rather

Dr. Vanetta Rather is a preacher, coach, author, and fierce advocate for women and girls. She is the founder of My Sister My Seed, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit in 2013 to fight sex trafficking and empower young women and girls. The organization's mission is to “Create a safer and a more just world for women and girls.” Dr. Rather graduated Magna Cum Laude from Springfield College in Springfield, MA, with a Bachelor of Science in Human Service. She also earned a Master of Divinity Degree and a Doctor of Ministry Degree, with a concentration in Preaching in the 21st Century, from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Dr. Rather is very passionate about preaching. She uses her passion for spreading an empowering message of self-love, self-worth, and value to all, especially women and girls who are too often marginalized, left out, and left behind. Her work speaks for itself and has garnered Dr. Rather awards and acknowledgments, including the Eboné Image Award from the National Coalition of One Hundred Black Women, Inc., and an acknowledgment from the Former Lt. Governor of Maryland, Congressman, Anthony G. Brown.
